    Father Christian Mathis offers an invitation, and explains a path that leads to our connection with Jesus. Although this podcast is aimed at those considering joining our Catholic family, it also provides insight and is beneficial to those who are already members.

    The podcast also coincides with the Come and See class that will be held on Sept. 8 at the Parish Family Life Center.

The expanded St. Thomas Fall Festival will kick off with a new event this year-- a wine & cheese gathering that will also feature door prizes, a live auction and dancing.

Wine, Cheese and All That Jazz will be held Thursday, Sept. 30 from 7-10 p.m. at the St. Thomas Parish Family Life Center.

Deacon Sean Smith will serve as emcee and the evening will feature music from The Top Notes of Tellico Village.

Tickets for Wine, Cheese and All That Jazz, sponsored by Dixie Lee Wines and Liquors, went on sale Labor Day weekend and are $10 per person. Seating is limited.

Diocesan Day 2010- My Impressions PDF Print E-mail

As most know, Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010 was a big day at Knoxville's Sacred Heart Cathedral with nearly 450 parishioners attending the first Diocesan Day.

St. Thomas the Apostle parish was well represented in the congregation, as well as in the Honor Guard from the John Paul II Assembly. I got a chance to talk briefly with two old friends - Fr. Bob Hofsteter and of course Fr. David Boettner who gave the opening welcome.

Bishop Richard F. Stika was in high spirits as he noted that this time last year he was near death. He sounded and looked great as he gave a warm welcome to all, and he seemed pleased at the turnout.

Father Christian Mathis has been celebrating mass and preaching at St. Thomas for two years, but his voice is being heard far beyond the walls of our church.

 Blessed Is The Kingdom, a blog written by Fr. Christian, has been recognized as a Reader's Choice favorite by the Catholic publisher Our Sunday Visitor.

“Lovely blog by a younger diocesan priest in Tennessee on matters spiritual,” said one reader who commented on Fr. Chrisitian's work.
