Susan Scriven de Dragon

Susan Scriven de Dragon   -   Member

Susan grew up Baptist in Lenoir City, and spent a lot of time working in missions and with youth.  She was heavily involved in the youth group, first as a youth and later as director of the youth program.  She worked with local and international missions teams as a translator to provide services to the teams as well as the growing local Hispanic community.

Susan attended college at East Tennessee State University where she worked with volunteer teams each spring break to provide humanitarian relief for groups across the United States.  After graduating, she lived and worked in South Carolina, eventually receiving her Master’s in Linguistics from the University of South Carolina.  While living in Columbia, SC, she answered God’s call to convert to Catholicism.

Susan is married and has a son.  Upon moving back to Lenoir City, she felt exceptionally blessed to find a wonderful church home at St. Thomas the Apostle.  She has been teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) at Loudon Elementary School since 2006.  At St. Thomas she has also been involved with Vacation Bible School since 2007, teaching and directing the program.  Most recently, she has completed “Just Faith” where God called her into a deeper relationship with the poor.
