Jim Walsh

Jim Walsh   -   Board Member

Jim has served on the Finance Committee at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church since 1997.  In addition, he has served on the counting committee.

Jim was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on June 24, 1930, and graduated from St. Peter’s College, Jersey City, NJ with a BS degree in Business Administration.  He earned an MBA from Seton Hall University, Orange, NJ, and earned 18 additional credits in Accounting from Rutgers University.  Jim grew up in a Catholic family with one sister and two brothers.  He married Marcella Kehoe on December 27, 1952, and they have 5 children:  James P., Peter T., David L., Marylynn Miles and Cindy Hess.  They are the proud grandparents of 11 grandchildren.  Jim and Marcella have lived in Tellico Village since 1997.

Jim served in the U.S. Navy for 4 ½ years, his first year as an Enlisted Man on the aircraft carrier, Bon Homme Richard, as an aviation ordnance man loading bombs on AD4Q aircraft off the Korean shore.  Jim returned to the U.S. when he was accepted to Officer’s Candidate School and was commissioned an Ensign in the Supply Corps, serving two aviation squadrons at Moffet Field, California.  He resigned as LTJG in 1955.  Jim held significantly increasing financial positions at Lockheed Engineering Corp., M&M, Mars Candy Company and finally Vice President, Finance at Nylok Fastener Corporation, where he retired on December 31, 1996.

Jim’s hobbies include family vacations, golf, pickle ball and tennis, Bridge, and Pinochle.
