Lance Lyons - Worship & Liturgy Co-Chair

Lance serves as co-chair of the Worship & Liturgy Commission on the Parish Pastoral Council.

Lance oversees Eucharistic adoration, communion for the home-bound, praying Rosary in a group, celebrating daily or Sunday mass, praying the Stations of the Cross and the Liturgy of the Hours and participating in Advent and Lenten special liturgical celebrations.

He has been an active member of ministries at St Thomas since joining our parish in 1999.

Lance is a charter member of the Knights of Columbus at the St. Thomas Council and the 4th degree Assembly of Lenoir City.

He also serves as a Stephen Minister, a coordinator for Eucharistic Adoration, and is an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist (EME). Lance is also a sponsor for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

Lance was born and raised in Chattanooga. His mother is a charter member of the St. Jude parish there. He converted to Catholicism at St. Jude when he was twenty.

Lance graduated in Engineering from UT Chattanooga, and attended engineering graduate school at South Carolina. He is retired from General Electric with more than 30 years service.

His career started in the space program in Huntsville, Alabama and included stops in Greenville, SC, Alta Loma, CA and Cincinnati working in development of large gas turbines and military aircraft engines.

His career also included work with the F-16/F-15 engine programs supporting foreign military customers in the middle and far east.

Lance and his wife Ruth have two children and three grandchildren.
