Maureen serves as co-chair of the Education Commission on the Parish Pastoral Council.
Her responsibilities include working with the Director of Religious Education to coordinate strategies and opportunities for faith formation for children, youth and adults and to make recommendations to the Parish Pastoral Council in the area of religious education and faith formation.
Maureen's most recent full-time position was at Saint Ursula Academy; Cincinnati’s premier girls’ college preparatory school. While there, she taught Math and Social Studies subjects in addition to developing and initiating the Advanced Placement American Government elective.
Prior to St. Ursula, Maureen was a Junior High School Teacher at St. Thomas More School in Cincinnati.
Currently, she teaches religious education (CCD) classes at St. Thomas the Apostle Church as well as Civics and English for U. S. Citizenship applicants through Catholic Social Services at Sacred Heart Cathedral School.
Maureen also has an extensive background in a community activities. As a youth, the former Girl Scout also volunteered as a patient-care aide at several local hospitals. As an adult, she volunteered to nurture ‘failure-to-thrive’ newborns at Saint Joseph’s Orphanage; and served as a Cub Scout Den Leader and Advisory Board Member.
She is a former member of the Cincinnati Chapter of the League of Women Voters and has also lived and traveled abroad.
She has worked in Real Estate and now hold an Affiliate Broker’s License in Tennessee.
She is also currently engaged in an entrepreneurial venture with American Communications Network, Inc. as an independent representative in the telecommunications industry.
Maureen graduated from Saint Ursula Academy, and received my Liberal Arts undergraduate degree from Edgecliff College in Cincinnati where I majored in American History and minored in Education. She earned her Master of Arts Degree with a concentration in non-Western History from Xavier University and, subsequently, continued her formal education in post-graduate Math and Social Science studies; ultimately attaining Professional and Permanent Teaching Certificates.
Maureen is College Board Certified to teach Advanced Placement American Government courses, and have acquired VIRTUS certification as well as am enrolled in the Diocese of Knoxville Catechetical Formation Program.
Maureen is also an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist (EME), a member of the Women’s Guild as well as the Cursillistas, and a volunteer sacristan at St. Thomas Parish.
Her husband, Joe, is a retired Army Colonel and a former Senior Manager with the Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati. The have 2 sons – Jay an FBI Special Agent in Chicago; Kit, a Software Development Manager with Urbancode in Cleveland; and a daughter – Shelley, a Customer Service Agent/Adjuster for WellPoint (Blue Cross/Blue Shield Association) in Cincinnati.
