Oh Holy Spirit, open my heart to that which I proclaim. Be with me as I study the Scripture and prepare the Word which is yours to speak. Grant me your gift of understanding so that the passage may dwell deep within me. Let me approach the Ambo, the Table of the Lord's Word, with reverence and awe.  Amen.

Lectors proclaim the Word of God at liturgical celebrations.  A lector proclaims the first and second readings at Mass. A lector also leads the Prayers of the Faithful and the announcements. This ministry requires a person with an excellent speaking voice who reads with life, energy, and enthusiasm.

Lector Ministry Mission

As proclaimers of the Word, we help facilitate a prayerful mood in the congregation. We seek to present a thoughtful and prayerful presentation of the Word to help those in attendance be receptive in heart and mind to the message of hope and love shared with all in the proclamation of the Gospel and homily.
